First Time Buyer Tips
You have just bought your first house. You are sat, buzzing with excitement, on the floor in the empty lounge. Now, what do you do? Here are our tips for first-time buyers.
Check the Main Services
Go and find where all your main services are located in the house. Check that your gas, electricity, and water all work. Take a note of any readings and a photo saved on your phone.
Go on a price comparison website to choose which provider is best for you. If it is already connected to one, remember you can always switch.
Check the oven works, if there is one installed, and turn on the central heating to make sure it all runs properly. Switch on all the lights and any other electricals. If you find anything that isn’t working, then make a note of it.
Contact someone to connect your internet. This can take ages. Remember, you can always hot spot your mobile device if you need to in the meantime.
Give them a call and speak to your service provider, person to person, to see if there are deals to be made. Often internet providers get a commission for their sales. If you call up and get a deal and then say you have to call back to make the payment, you will often find the next person you speak to will want to beat their colleague’s deal. It is sneaky but if it saves you 30% off your monthly bill for the year, then it is worth it.
Print out the Floor Plan from the Listing
Deciding where to put things in your new house can be tricky. Now you are in there, you can take a tape measure to every wall and floor space. Print-out the floor plan of your new home from the listing. If you can’t see it then it is worth contacting the agent who sold you the house and asking for any documents.
You want to make sure it is correct first, then start drawing in your furnishings. Start with the furniture you already have. Then draw in any plumbing you will be having done. If you need new radiators plumbing in, you can order them online here.
If you are placing new Stelrad radiators in your home, there are so many options. They have modernized and come in a variety of styles and colours. They have heat efficiency calculators so that you can figure out the size and style that would give off the most heat in your home.
Research the Takeaways in your Area
This is a serious moment. First impressions are everything. The takeaway you order now will probably end up being your favourite takeaway for the rest of the time you live in your house. Maybe forever.
Choose wisely. Just Eat and Uber Eats are great ways of getting food delivered easily. However, there are many restaurants that don’t like using them as they take a cut of sales. Have a look at Google Maps, you will be surprised at how many popups.
Then you can just chill and relax, your home is ready for tomorrow to start unpacking and settling into.
