Bad Way to Start the New Year 2015: Shanghai stampede killed 35 peoples
New Year events supposedly celebrated with great joy, people come together and count down the last seconds before start of the new year. However it is a bad start in Shanghai, at least 35 people killed and 46 injured in a stampede during New Year’s celebrations in Shanghai’s historic waterfront area.
According to official and eye witness, during the new year event peak, someone thrown a large amount of coupons or vouchers that look similar to dollar bill, the confusion lead to a crowd of chaos which resulted in mass excited to grab the item thrown.
The injured had been treated in Shanghai No.1 People Hospital. Family members shocked upon hearing the news had rush into the hospital for further inquiries, Police and hospital staff already on guard to prevent any more unwanted and confuse incident during the new year day.
“We were down the stairs and wanted to move up and those who were upstairs wanted to move down, so we were pushed down by the people coming from upstairs,”
an injured man told Shanghai TV.
The local official still unconfirmed what’s the intention of the culprit for throwing ‘dollar bill’ like coupons into a crowded area.
