The wait is finally over and the PlayStation 5 (PS5) is finally here! After years of hype and teasing, Sony’s new generation of gaming consoles is slowly trickling into the homes of gaming enthusiasts around the world.
Now you know that you can play a whole host of games to your heart’s content, but are you making the most out of every feature the PS5 has to offer? Let’s take a closer look at some of the lesser-known features to help you maximize your playing experiences.
Check Your Privacy Settings
During your initial PS5 set-up, you were likely asked to make a selection from four different privacy settings labeled with names such as “solo and focused” and “social and open”. Essentially, what each of these does is let you control your online profile and what other players can see in relation to you.
Within each category, your settings can be further broken down still, which gives you complete control over whether or not you will show up in search results, as well as who can add you as a friend. These settings can easily be adjusted by following the “users and accounts” tab in your PS5’s settings menu.
Pick Your Level Of Difficulty
The PS5’s pre-sets section allows you to set a default level of difficulty. In fact, the pre-sets section affords you plenty of options that can be applied to your gaming experience. Some gamers prefer to leave this untouched as the level of a game’s difficulty can differ widely.
However, other games like to set their games to the highest, toughest settings while others set it to the lowest one as they enjoy playing games purely for the stories. Either way, your PS5 can be fully customized to your liking.
Adjust The Stand For Your Convenience
One of the simplest but most convenient features of the PS5 is its detachable stand. The boxed console comes with the stand fixed at the bottom so it can be positioned upright. However, as something that brought a great deal of distress to Xbox Series X owners, upright positioning might not fit into your home entertainment system, especially because of the sheer size of the PS5.
Fear not, because you can switch from the upright stand to the base panel instead, which will allow you to position it horizontally. This can be done within five minutes – all you need is a screwdriver. Or if you want faster access to fun, simply register right here and forget about DIY!
Join Parties Without A Headset
The PS5’s DualSense controller features a built-in microphone that can be used to chat with friends without the need for a headset, which saves you on needing to purchase additional hardware. Plus, it’s perfect for multi-player gaming. Furthermore, you won’t need to isolate your ears off from those physically present within your space.
While the verdict on whether or not the microphone will be any good at isolating your voice from the background noise is still to be determined, at least whoever lives with you won’t be too privy to overhearing only one-sided conversations whenever you play.
