China Officials Eat Endangered Giant Salamander
You probably heard about people ate exotic delicacy such as snake, rat, cockroach or centipede. But do you know that rare and endangered animal or reptile also on the menu. This happens in China where the country officials dined in special events served with endangered giant salamander. If you don’t know what salamander is, here’s some 411.
Salamanders are any of the roughly 655 extant and all the extinct species of amphibians within the order Caudata. The present-day species are often grouped together under the term Urodela. wiki
According to Global Times, 28 diners included senior police officials from the southern city of Shenzhen participating on feasting of the giant salamander. The local journalist cover the feast had been violently reject from taking photos or any sightseeing.
The giant salamander is believed by some Chinese to have anti-ageing properties, but there is no orthodox evidence to back the claim.

The species is classed as “critically endangered” on the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s (IUCN) Red List of threatened species, which says the population has “declined catastrophically over the last 30 years”.
