Brutal Murder of 17 Years Old Teen in Kota Kinabalu
Suppose to be a happy night out with friends turn to sorrow when a 17 years old teen was brutally murdered in front of a night pub outlet, Siam Thai bar in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. The incident took place when the 17 years old deceased victim, known as Yaccob Nasran leaves the night pub around 4:16 AM and encounters a lover sprawl between a man and a woman, who works as a waitress in a nearby night pub.
According to a police statement, the victim tried to persuade the man to calm down, however, this lead to the provocation of the angry man and he and his cousin started to attack the victim and his nearby friends. The report stated 3 more teens (other than the murder victim) were seriously injured during the scuffle.
The man and his cousin used a ‘parang’ or ‘machete’ to attack the victim and his friends. The victim, Yaccob Nasran were seen taken serious wounds when protecting a female friend from getting hurt. This leads to massive blood loss due to deep cuts in the forehead and neck.
The suspect flees the scene after attacking the youth. According to the police report, the suspect duo had been apprehended the next morning in their house in Bukit Padang, no report on penalty yet. The suspect duo is from Bugis descendant which is overshadowed by crimes and murder in Kota Kinabalu. Malaysia’s state Sabah is populated by immigrant workers who committed crimes largely in recent years.

The murder suspect duo had been apprehended. According to Kota Kinabalu OCPD Asst Comm Chandra Muthu, four other people who worked at a pub nearby – one of whom is the ex-wife of one of the suspects – were also detained to assist in investigations. The police authority still investigate the real motive of the killing, is it coincident or planned by the above 6 suspects?
KOTA KINABALU: The magistrate’s court here today charged a pub bouncer with the recent murder of a teenage boy. Mohd Azmin Lidin, 28, from Kampung Cenderamata Likas, was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murdering 18-year-old Yaacob Nasran between 3.30 am and 4.30 am outside the Siam Thai Bar, Jalan Asia City here, on Dec 15.
The accused appeared to smile when the charge was read to him before Magistrate Jessica Ombou Kakayun. The offense carries the death penalty if convicted. No plea was recorded and Mohd Azmin was remanded further, as the offense has no provision for bail. Kakayun fixed Feb 7 for the re-mention of the case, pending necessary documents from the prosecution. Prosecuting officer Inspector P. Nathan prosecuted, while lawyer Datuk Rakhbir Singh represented the defendant.
In the event on Dec 15, Yaacob, along with his brother and six other friends, were attacked by a group of men armed with swords. Yaacob was slashed to death while protecting a friend from getting slashed. Several others, including the deceased’s brother, were injured.
