The great fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld once told us that luxury bags make life more pleasant. He also mentioned them signaling to our neighbors that you’re doing well. And so we store them away, taking them out every now and then to preen over them.

But what if you’re no longer using them?

Luxury accessories, whether a Chanel 2.55 or a Hermes Birkin, are not cheap. They are investments we make, and like all investments, we want to get the most out of them. But sometimes our taste changes or our lifestyle does, and these beautiful pieces end up sitting in our closets collecting dust.

So what do we do with them? Here are a few options.

1) Sell Them

The most obvious choice is to sell your luxury accessories and recoup some of the money you spent on them. There are many reputable consignment stores that will gladly take your items off your hands and sell them for you. They will take a commission but it’s a hassle-free way to get rid of your things.

There are also many online marketplaces where you can sell your items yourself. These platforms require more work, but you will be able to keep a larger percentage of the proceeds.

What will you do when you sell? Buy more luxury purses, perhaps? Click for vintage Gucci bags and see what others have done with their designer pieces.

2) Exchange Them

Another option is to exchange your name-brand accessories for something else. This could be done through a consignment store or online marketplace. You could also exchange them with a friend or family member.

This is a great way to get rid of something you no longer want and get something you want in return. It’s a win-win!

3) Give Them Away

If you’re feeling generous, you could always gift your name-brand bags and accessories to a friend or family member. Or you could donate them to a worthy cause.

Many charities would love to receive your gently used items for fundraising purposes.

4) Put Them on Display

Of course, you could always keep your luxury bags and enjoy them. If you have the space, you could create a special place in your home to display them. They’ll make excellent talking points when you have visitors as they’ll do double duty as high-end decor.

You could store them at an external storage site if you don’t use them often. Then you could rotate them seasonally or only bring them out on special occasions. After all, they are investments that should be enjoyed!

Take Care of Your Luxury Accessories

Whether you decide to keep or sell your luxury accessories, taking care of them is important. These high-end accessories are often made with quality materials and craftsmanship and should be treated as such.

If you’re not using them, store them in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. Use acid-free tissue paper to wrap them up, so they don’t get scratched. And if possible, keep them in their original boxes and dust bags to maintain their value.

By following these simple tips, you can ensure that your luxury accessories will stay in pristine condition until you’re ready to use them again. Check out our blog for more fashion tips to keep you stylish all season long.
